First Off .. I want to thank everyone who helped me get this done. Even if you just sat through it and watched it with me at some point, or if you had a significant hand in helping me work through a problem or whatever .. everyone who helped me make this … I appreciate everything. Ok .. now on to the rest.

This year has been a crazy sort of ups and downs. I started this video back in March of this year and worked on it almost every day for about 2 months. I finally got it to a place I was happy with it and when I went to render the final shots … estimated time …. 6 MONTHS 4 DAYS 22 HOURS.

I was heartbroken, all that hard work and the only machine I had that had power enough to render it was going to take over 6 months. I looked into all types of options. New video cards, better scene optimization, render farms, etc…

I called in favors from friend and colleagues from multiple countries, they all said the similar things. It was going to take what it would take, or I would have to pay a few thousand dollars in gear or render fees to get it done the way I wanted to.

Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago and a friend suggested maybe rendering it out purposely low resolution to emulate the older look when the capabilities to do it any other way just really weren’t an option. So I took a fresh look at it, re-cut the video, reworked the shots and made what I think is a great end result. Even though it wasn’t what I originally intended this to video to be.

Overall I didn’t sacrifice much but the resolution of the video, All the elements are the same, and the animation hasn’t changed but we did get creative on some of the techniques used to render it out more efficiently and tie it all together.

All-in-all I am extremely happy with the results and I hope people watching enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it.

While I worked on the animations and editing myself, I certainly had a lot of helpful, creative people giving me guidance, support and most importantly encouragement to get this thing done. It was a lot of work, especially since I hadn’t tackled something this complicated before this.

I’m looking forward to next year and being able to make more videos similar to this one.

Thank you again to everyone who supports my work and who supports any of us creative types.
