In an effort to learn and become more antiquated with my newly acquired Roland JD-800, I’ve been trying to make the most of single sounds.
The JD-800 is a monster synth, and it has many strong features. My favorite however is the huge pads and ambient sounds it is capable of.
I know for me when I’m making tracks I try to add background sounds and all types of little things to add “production value” to the track. Sometime though, you can easily get what you need with just one sound.
The track in this video was done with a single setting on the JD-800 and was recorded live in one take.
I know there could be plenty of things done to it, but that would ruin the exercise.
Hopefully you’ll enjoy it, and maybe it will inspire you to use something simple and straight forward to get great results.
As always, thanks for taking the time to listen.
